Trace Galbraith, also known as Tracie, is a California artist that currently lives and practices her art in the San Francisco Bay Area. She co-founded Infuse Glass Studio in 2013, where she teaches classes and workshops, and introduces people to the
medium of kiln-formed glass. She studied Studio Art and Art Education at Humboldt State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000, and her teaching credential in Arts Education in 2002. After teaching in the public school system, she found her place at Fire Arts Community Studio in Arcata, California, where she ran the glass program for 8 years. While at Fire Arts, she expanded her knowledge of kiln-forming through extensive exploration and continuing education. Trace also has a degree in Ornamental Horticulture which strongly influences her aesthetic vision.
Trace’s favorite place to be when not in the studio is snorkeling in the ocean where she finds much of her inspiration. The quiet solitude of being in the water and swimming among tropical fish, coral, and ocean mammals is where she feels closest to her
creative influences.
Her work reflects the intimate relationship she has with the natural world as she captures the architecture of nature by using tiny pieces of glass rod to represent the building blocks of her world. While some will paint a flower garden as seen with the naked eye, she would construct a garden as if looking through a microscope; individual jewels arranged in colorful harmony.
